Mallorca’s Island Light in Watercolor
.
Watercolor painting amidst the nature and culture of Mallorca seeks an immediate, authentic expression—a compact visual snapshot of the feeling of freedom in the here and now on the island.
Far from everyday perfection, we release ourselves in the course of accurate depictions through various tasks. Watercolor painting thrives on the spontaneous flow of colors and their intensity as a powerful means of expression. But the paper's white also needs its own space so that these contrasts harmonize.
This requires a high level of abstraction and reduction in composition and image dynamics. Exercises in drawing and painting sketches using extended watercolor techniques express the vibrancy of the moment atmospherically. The nature and picturesque motifs of the island are to be made tangible through new artistic approaches. Forget perfection—welcome inspiration and perception.
Our course location, the finca Son Mandia, nestled among ancient oak trees near the picturesque village of Artà, serves as a starting point for our excursions as well as a place to relax.
